Start a Team
Please note: We have temporarily paused onboarding new teams due to budget constraints. We hope to expand our reach in the near future as we work on securing more funds, and we encourage anyone who is interested to view the materials below and contact us to be added to our waitlist.
We Want You:
We are looking for veterinarians and human-animal bond advocates across the U.S. who are interested in being *Team Leads and Co-Team Leads. Providing primarily preventative veterinary care and spay/neuter services to pet owners experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness allows them to:
1) keep their pets and maintain the strong bonds they have with them
2) minimize economic euthanasia and pet surrender
3) decrease the risk of infectious and zoonotic disease
The Street Dog Coalition will provide supplies including core vaccines, parasite prevention, and microchips courtesy of Merck Animal Health. See below for more details and contact us if you’re interested.
*Team Leads must be veterinarians; Co-Team Leads do not have to be.
Street Medicine:
The Street Dog Coalition cares for the lives on both ends of the leash. We provide free (primarily preventive) care to pets of people experiencing homelessness, as well as medical and social services for the pet owner when available. Our veterinary care includes core vaccinations, heartworm testing, parasite prevention, treatment of minor wounds and infections, pain management, and other medical services. Whenever possible, we strive to engage in collaborative efforts with existing social service and (human) Street Medicine Institute programs.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Click here to view our Team Lead FAQs which also serves as our Team Lead handbook. This is updated frequently as we field more questions and fine tune our operations.
S/N Vouchers:
Because spay/neuter procedures typically cannot be done in the field, we work with collaborating veterinary hospitals and animal rescues to provide vouchers for S/N surgeries for free or low cost.
Pet Food & Gear:
We also try to provide pet food, clothing, beds, blankets, collars, leashes, harnesses, and carriers as they become available. Whenever possible, we give socks, hats and gloves to pet owners, especially during the winter.
