SDC is extending their reach up the leash to provide One Health services to at-risk people and pets in Northeastern Colorado via a free community health fair that will take place at the Prairie Family Center (1040 Rose Ave, Burlington, CO 80807) on October 22, and the Yuma Fairgrounds (410 W Hoag Ave, Yuma, CO 80759) on October 23, 11am to 4pm both days.
Basic veterinary care (including vaccinations, parasite control, microchipping, treatment of minor medical problems, etc) will be offered by a team of veterinarians, vet techs, and veterinary students. Free spay/neuter vouchers will be offered with surgery provided by Twin Forks Veterinary Clinic. Free pet food and other pet supplies will also be provided.
Medical and dental screenings will be available for humans as well as counseling services and free haircuts, lunch, and handmade items including hats, scarves and blankets. A $10 voucher to the Prairie Family Center Twice as Nice Thrift Store will be given to anyone who completes the Colorado Family Support Assessment survey.
This health fair is available to any human, pet owner or not, who considers themself “at risk” which includes people with very low incomes experiencing a severe housing cost burden (i.e., those paying more than 50 percent of their income toward housing). It also includes people in households who are living “doubled up” with family and friends.
